The Founder
Kerry is a software engineer with 15+ years in tech — formerly an engineer at Microsoft, former Digital Technical Director at agencies running digital programs for Fortune 500s, Fortune 100s, and municipalities, and currently CTO at Zipper. He's been on both sides: building the tech, and managing the strategy for clients with serious budgets and serious expectations.
Cornerstone grew out of watching local trade businesses in Metro East Illinois pay for digital marketing that never materialized into real content. The websites looked fine. The promises sounded good. But six months in, nothing had been published, nothing was ranking, and the owner was still trying to figure out what to post on Facebook at 10pm. Kerry built a system to fix that: AI-assisted production, local market knowledge, human review — finished content delivered every month, no owner involvement required.
Every site Cornerstone builds is custom — no templates, no page builders, no drag-and-drop. Built from scratch with performance, local SEO, and structured data in mind. That's the difference between a site that looks like every other shop in your city and one that ranks above them.
Why Trades & Home Services
When a homeowner's furnace dies in January or their roof starts leaking in April, they don't ask a neighbor — they search. "HVAC repair Belleville IL." "Emergency plumber O'Fallon IL." "Roofing contractor near me." The businesses that show up in those searches get the call. The ones that don't, don't.
Local search for emergency services is winner-take-most. The homeowner clicks the first or second result, calls once, and books. If you're not visible, that job goes to your competitor — someone who may be no better at the actual work, but who has more content online.
Content for trades is also different from other industries. Homeowners want to know who they're letting into their home. A blog post about "what to expect during a full roof replacement in Edwardsville" does two things: it ranks for relevant searches, and it pre-answers the questions every worried homeowner has before they call.
And we know the Metro East market. Collinsville homeowners, Shiloh subdivisions, Highland rural properties — the specifics matter. Generic content doesn't rank. Local content does.
The Difference
Every site we build starts from a blank file. No WordPress themes, no page builders, no drag-and-drop. Custom-coded, fast, and built specifically around your business — not repurposed from a plumber we built last month.
We don't guarantee rankings or calls. Nobody can. We sell specific deliverables — a website, blog posts, social content — that you actually receive every month. No guesswork about what you're paying for.
Fortune 500 digital programs. Microsoft engineering. The same rigor applies here — just for an HVAC shop in Collinsville instead of an enterprise client. Local business, enterprise-grade execution.
No long-term contracts to start. No marketing jargon. Just a conversation about what your business needs.
